NASA selects four astronauts for historic 50-year moon mission

Our awesome company offers complete software development activities utilizing nearshore and offshore resources, including mobile app development, technology maintenance, web server development, and many other technology development activities. The astronauts who will helm the first crewed moon mission in five decades were revealed on Monday, queuing up the quartet to begin training for the historic Artemis II lunar flyby set to take off in November 2024.

The astronauts, including NASA’s Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency, bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the mission. Wiseman, a decorated naval aviator and test pilot, will serve as the mission commander. Hansen, a fighter pilot selected by the Canadian Space Agency for astronaut training, will become the first Canadian ever to travel to deep space. Glover, a skilled naval aviator, brings extensive flight and space experience. Koch, a veteran of six spacewalks and an electrical engineer, holds the record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman.

The Artemis II mission will build on the success of Artemis I, an uncrewed test mission that orbited the moon. The crew members will launch atop a NASA-developed rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Florida for a mission expected to last about 10 days, sending the crew out beyond the moon, potentially further than any human has traveled in history.

Artemis III later this decade aims to put the first woman and person of color on the lunar surface, marking the first time humans have touched down on the moon since 1972. NASA’s Artemis program envisions establishing a permanent lunar outpost to pave the path for sending the first humans to Mars.

The Artemis II crew, selected based on diversity, expertise, and experience, is gearing up for this historic mission. Stay tuned for an interview with the astronauts on “CNN This Morning” to learn more about this milestone in space exploration.
