Elon Musk’s Shiba Inu Replacement of Twitter Bird Causes Dogecoin to Surge

Twitter’s iconic bird logo has been replaced with an image of a Shiba Inu, possibly in reference to dogecoin, the cryptocurrency that Elon Musk is currently facing a lawsuit over. This change comes shortly after Musk responded to a suggestion on Twitter to change the bird logo to a doge, which he followed through with. The appearance of the doge logo on Twitter coincided with Musk’s legal battle over accusations of supporting a dogecoin pyramid scheme.

Musk is no stranger to using Twitter to engage with his audience, and this logo change is just another example of his playful interactions on the platform. The fluctuating price of dogecoin saw a significant increase of over 20% in the last 24 hours, reaching around 9 cents, up from just under 8 cents on Monday morning.

Created in 2013 as a joke by two software engineers, dogecoin pays homage to the popular “doge” meme from a decade ago. The current Shiba Inu mascot reflects this meme, featuring a dog with Comic Sans text in broken English.
