In recent news, Twitter made a bold move by replacing its traditional bird icon with an image of a Shiba Inu, seemingly in a nod to dogecoin, the cryptocurrency that CEO Elon Musk is currently facing a lawsuit over. Musk acknowledged the change on Twitter, fulfilling a year-old suggestion to change the logo to a doge. This change comes shortly after Musk requested a judge to dismiss a $258 billion lawsuit that accused him of promoting a dogecoin pyramid scheme.

Legal representatives for Musk and Tesla dismissed the lawsuit as a “fanciful work of fiction” over the CEO’s humorous tweets. The doge logo on Twitter appeared amidst the ongoing controversy, leading to speculation about its permanence given Musk’s reputation for trolling on the platform.

Despite the uncertainty, the price of dogecoin surged by over 20% in the past 24 hours, standing at around 9 cents. Created as a joke on December 6, 2013, by two software engineers, dogecoin pays tribute to the “doge” meme popularized years ago. The cryptocurrency’s Shiba Inu mascot further embodies the meme with its quirky design.
