In response to the change, Musk tweeted an image of a conversation from a year ago where someone suggested changing Twitter’s logo to a doge, as he promised to do. This change came just days after Musk sought to dismiss a $258 billion lawsuit alleging racketeering related to dogecoin support.
This move by Musk, coming on the heels of legal trouble, is yet another example of his playful and sometimes controversial behavior on Twitter. It remains unclear if the logo change is permanent, given Musk’s reputation for trolling on social media. Despite the uncertainty, dogecoin’s value saw a notable uptick of over 20% in the past 24 hours, reaching around 9 cents, up from just under 8 cents earlier.
The origins of dogecoin trace back to December 6, 2013, when it was created by two software engineers as a humorous take on cryptocurrencies.
