Young Swimmer Shatters Two World Records within a Week

Summer McIntosh, a sixteen-year-old swimming sensation, shattered the world record for the 400m individual medley at the Canadian swimming trials, hot on the heels of breaking the world record for the 400m freestyle just days earlier.

Clocking in at 4:25.87, McIntosh surpassed the previous record set by Hungarian swimmer Katinka Hosszú at the 2016 Rio Olympics. This impressive performance comes after McIntosh set a new world record for the 400m freestyle with a time of 3:56.08, besting the previous record held by Ariarne Titmus.

In the midst of her remarkable achievements, McIntosh expressed her gratitude towards her supporters, stating, “That’s the first time I really vividly heard the crowd during my race. It’s amazing to have all my family and friends in the stands, cheering me on. It really helped me in the last 100 meters.”

Having made her mark at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics at just 14 years old, McIntosh secured a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle. Since then, she has clinched multiple gold medals at various prestigious events, including the world championships and the Commonwealth Games.
